Pulse Induction Metal Detectors
Pulse Star II Metal Detector

Pulse Star II Metal Detector
– Function Overview
The Pulse Star II is a Pulse-Induction (PI) metal detector designed primarily for detecting large objects at significant depths. It uses a large 1×1 meter search coil as standard equipment, and its detection capabilities are comparable to those of magnetometers, which only detect ferromagnetic objects.
Advantages of the Pulse Star II:
- Flexible Coil Design: Unlike VLF detectors, the search coil in the PI system is not part of a resonant circuit, allowing it to be of almost any size and shape. This flexibility increases the detection depth significantly.
- High Transmission Power: The timely decoupling between the transmitting and receiving phases allows the system to operate with greater transmission power, enhancing its detection capabilities.
- Rejection of Small Objects: The large search coils naturally reject small objects such as bottle caps, pull tabs, and aluminum foil, focusing on larger targets.
- Ease of Use: The device is simple to operate, with only four controls, one of which is typically used during normal operation.
Operation Phases:
- Transmission Phase: A strong current flows through the search coil, creating a primary magnetic field. When the current is abruptly cut off, this field collapses, inducing eddy currents in nearby metal objects.
- Receiving Phase: The decay of these eddy currents generates a secondary magnetic field, which induces weak voltages in the search coil. These voltages are amplified and indicated by a meter and an audio signal.
Special Capabilities:
- Metal Discrimination: The Pulse Star II can differentiate between ferrous and non-ferrous metals, though this function works best with objects larger than 10 cm in diameter.
- Large Area Coverage: The large search coils allow the user to cover a significant area quickly.
- Multiple Coil Options: Various coil sizes and shapes can be used, including a small 25 cm coil for precise location and a large 2×2 meter coil for increased depth detection.
Waterproof Coils: All search coils are waterproof and can be used in shallow water.
Ease of Adjustment: The detector automatically performs internal adjustments upon startup, and retuning during operation requires only pressing a switch.
